Unisex's A1 Airstop Inner Tube, Presta

What can you say about a tube - it holds air, that's about it. Isn't terribly heavy, hasn't leaked yet, etc. I've never had a problem with these as long as proper air pressure is maintained. Quality seems okay, and price isn't too high. The smooth valve stem is fantastic. Many tubes have a threaded stem, which eats up the rubber seals in your pump & makes it difficult to smoothly disengage the pump without losing much air. The smooth stem on the Michelin tube easily slides out of the pump head, making inflation a breeze.

These are great all around tubes. I had some higher performance tubes and they lost pressure pretty quick. Like the name says they are "AirStop" and hold pressure for several days with only a few psi loss. Two things to consider. First they do not have removable stems so you cannot fill them leak stop fluid. I don't like the stuff because eventually it forms a ball in the tube and when you really need it all that happens is they leak a milky sticky fluid that gets all inside your tire. The biggest thing to watch out for is they are non-threaded and just a little smaller diameter than the threaded ones. If you have a pump with a clamp/release mechanism they are fine, but with the push-on type CO2 cartridges sometimes they don't seal well and can leak. Luckily for me I had two cartridges and the second one worked when this happened. If you use CO2 cartridges, make sure it seals well on the stem before you go off thinking you have a spare. I now carry a threaded tube as my spare.

I now use these as my tubes for all my bikes. The smooth valve stem has kept me from having a single failure at the valve stem due to stress on the rubber/metal junction during pumping. My pump head slips on, locks down, pumps up, slips off with virtually no loss of air pressure and no stress on the tube at all. I have had them fail as any tube would from severe punctures etc. but I have never had one fail due to poor quality. My favorite tube. I have tried others, none are as good.

Got tired on getting dinged when I only needed one tube. Not really viable to patch a tube when you are running 120 psi. I'm not going to risk a broken bone with a sudden flat over a few bucks. Bought 10 to keep some inventory. Each tube has lasted very well and they are holding up to the mileage. Would not hesitate gathering up another 10 when I go through a few more.

3 of 4 Airstop tubes have failed on the first ride after replacing the previous tube. Rides were on smooth, clean pavement, in less than 5 miles each ride. The tubes were carefully installed, on high ,quality aluminum aero rims, with new rim tape. One split 1/8th in along its centerline seam. One hah a pinpoint leak, centerline. One had a sidewall pinpoint leak. Tires seem fine - no visible damage or evidence of foreign body in the tread or sidewall. Inflated to tires specified 115 psi. No obvious road hazards. Will tr another brand. BTW, tube packaging received was correct size, Michelin Airstop, but did not indicate “butyl” — old stock?

I don't like the fact that the presta value is non threaded. The value stem can slip/move around & over time will wear & cause the tube to flatten..........but you will probably get a normal flat first. I would not purchase these again.

The tube size is NOT in the main description. I ordered this thinking it was 40 mm tube, when in fact it was a 40 mm long presta valve. LAME! I had to eat the cost to ship it back. The actual tube size is in the fine print - should be part of the main description. I'm out of luck on this one. This is a great product - just a bad product description by Amazon.

I've put almost 400 miles on a pair of these tubes when I got my first flat after about 15 rides. I found that they held air pretty well between rides although I still had to add some air each time. Adding air for each ride is normal to me so I don't hold this against the tube. Oddly, I found that the tube was a little too long for my rim by about a half inch. The tube folded over itself. I don't think this caused a performance issue but it made the installation a little slower as I tried in vain to "fix" the overlapping tube. The price was competitive and it gave me no real problems beyond the slightly inconvenient installation. I bought 2 more so I guess that's an endorsement in itself.

Inoltre si può apprezzare la grande esperienza della casa francese in questo settore dal fatto che le camere d' aria sono cosparse di una polverina particolare che consente alle stesse di non deteriorarsi (screpolatura) all' interno del barattolo portaoggetti della bici per tanto tempo; in genere per le altre consiglio di cospargerle di talco, così da renderle durevoli nel tempo, in caso che si sostituisca la camera x una foratura dopo tanto tempo (anche 1 anno per i + fortunati!).Ottimo prodotto.
