A simple machine. Glad I bought it.
This is a simple rowing machine and does what I wanted. Aspects I wanted were 1) small footprint when folded. When folded the machine sticks out from the wall about 10" and is around 30" long, so easily leans against my wall in a crowded room 2) blocks of various heights can be placed under the rear of the seat rail and that allows me to vary the amount of leg work by increased gravity while keeping the arm work the same 3) independent oars for the coordination of pulling symetrically (which doesn't happen with a single cable/handle machine. 4) The machine is mechanically simple, so it will be easy to repair if a part breaks. The most specialized part are the two shock absorbers.Aspects that are a chore: 1) the machine is heavy. The spec is that the machine is around 47 pounds, and it is, and with my bad back deploying it and putting it away is a bit of a risk. 2) it took around 1.5 h to assemble. The instructions were clear enough: in the manual there are a sequence of images and appropriate fasteners: first put this together, then add these, then add these etc. However, there a lot of parts. My progress was continuous: look at the diagram, find the parts, fit them together, put in the fastners, and it still took me around 1.5 hours before I first tried the machine. 3) I wish the manual had included some tightening torques for the fasteners that hold the bushings. Nyloc nuts are supplied so there is no need to strongly torque the brackets into which the bushings fit, but it is easy to torque the brackets until the bracket sides pinch the bushing, and some sort of instruction such as "only tighten nuts until they touch the bracket", or "tighten nuts until the bracket almost touches the bushing" would have been nice.

Excellent all around rower!
This is the second time I've purchased this exact rower. My first one lasted almost 12 years (using it once a week) and the only replacements I made on it were new cylinders at about the 8 year mark. My normal rowing session is 30-45 minutes. I replaced it because of overall wear and tear on the seat, bearings (became loud), arm grips and digital display. After 12 years who can complain? I researched and tried out several other types and brands of rowers prior to purchasing another Stamina. The new one I bought is quieter than my first one and the resistance is easier to dial in. It slides underneath my weight bench and saves space. After about four months the left grip started to wear. One quick phone call to Stamina and a super helpful lady on the phone sent me a new grip for free and explained to me exactly how to remove the old one and replace the new one. I've rowed with fancier models at gyms when I'm traveling and always miss my Stamina rower back home. You do have to assemble it yourself and that takes about an hour. You can't go wrong purchasing this product. It's an excellent cardio and resistance machine to supplement your weekly workout routine.

A lot of rower for the money
I've had my Stamina Precision Rower for a year now. I love it! Unlike the treadmill, which requires regular maintenance (lubricate the belt, etc.), the rower requires no maintenance. No parts will ever wear out that will need to be replaced. The seat is very comfortable, the glide of the seat is extremely smooth. The arms row great. The total construction is excellent. Now, there's just one thing that's incredibly stupid about this rower, and it's not that difficult to fix. When not using it, of course you will want to stand it up and lean it against the wall. Well, unbelievably, the wire to the computer goes in dead center right in the bottom where you would stand it up. So, you want to make a small modification to the unit. You want to take off the cover of the computer (just as if you were changing the battery) and drill maybe a 1/4" hole straight into the aluminum body of the rower. Then, you want to run the computer wire down into that hole. Then, find the other end of the wire coming from the internal magnetic switch and solder the wires together. (You can then throw away the metal connector which previously joined the two.) When you're done, the computer/magnet sensor wire is completely INSIDE the rower. Then, you can stand the rower up on it's pedal-end with the seat-end up in the air, and lean it against the wall. But, for burning calories at home this thing is great. One thing I love about it is that the computer STOPS when you stop. Meaning, if you stop rowing, THE CLOCK STOPS. The clock doesn't resume again until YOU RESUME ROWING. So, it shows you the number of actual minutes you were rowing, not the number of minutes you were just sitting in the seat! With a very reasonable/low price, all in all (since nothing is perfect) I would recommend this rower pretty highly to anyone.

Good buy!
Excellent machine. Versatile and quit.Only drawback is the counter that count one rowing cycle as two strokes.Solid construction and very easy to assemble.

I love it, Mechanically it works GR8 - Very SturdyAnd I weigh 265 Lbs, and it's long enough (I am 6 feet tall)Easy to assemble - Only needed 1 extra washerBUT, the little electronic unit cannot keep time accurately (it is slow by over 2 minutes in a 20 minute period.

Sturdy but too hard
It's not a machine that you can compare with a proper rowing machine with which you pull a cord in the middle. However, it can still give you good excercise if you are strong enough to pull the handles sufficiently fast. My problem is that it is too tight for me even at the lightest setting. So I can only pull them back slowly and so I will feel nothing even after 15 minutes of using it, Otherwise, the machine is ok.

Stamina 35-1205 Precision Rower
This is my "second " rower from Amazon since Sept/2013... the first one- the bushings were wearing quickly...I contacted Stamina twice via email but never did get a response.I shipped it back to Amazon( who by the way were most helpful) and discovered rowing machines where I live are hard to come by so I re-ordered the same rowing machine thinking it was just an isolated case with the bushings...I have had the rowing machine now for less than a month..same thing happening...bushings are wearing out, tiny black shavings are landing on the frame and today the left arm of the machine started sqeaking...not sure what that is about! I am doing 2000 stokes a day....my old machine lasted 15 years...this one? maybe a couple of months tops...what the machine needs are steel bushings not the cheap plastic ones that come with the machine when you put it together....would I recommend this item? no...not worth the agravation which I am certainly feeling right now!
