i see iceberg warning, avalanche warning but no tornado warning? does this unit have a tornado warning? i see watch but no warning in the setup menu.

You can’t disable thunderstorm warning which I don’t really care about. So, to avoid being woken up in the middle of the night, I turn the whole thing off. So stupid and now the radio is useless. Tornado would be the only reason we would need to be woken up.

does it have battery back up power

The Midland WR 110/120 B & EZ all take 3 AA (Double A) Batteries. This is a Public Alert Certified Weather/Hazards Alert radio. They last about 8 days for regular Energizer/Duracell AA Batts. Li-Ion Batteries last about 13 days. I don't recommend rechargeable batteries, they have a lower initial mah and voltage, and I've seen the radios just shut down without warning This is a life saving device, as such, it samples the wx frequencies every second of every day, 24x7, basically the WX Receiver is always on, and receiving, but not sending audio to the speaker.

Can you receive regular AM/FM stations on this unit?

Unfortunately, you can't receive radio stations on it. However, there is a built in alarm that can be set. I hope that this answered your question.

Does this work when you travel?

It says receive alerts for only your specific local area with Specific Area Message Encoding Technology. I believe you can use it when traveling but may need to program it for the area you are in. It's recommended by Dept of Homeland Security for Emergency Preparedness
