Tram-Browning BR-PT450 200-Watt Pretuned 450 MHz to 470 MHz Tunable Nut-Type UHF Antenna with NMO Mounting

I hooked this up to my Icon uhf handheld radio and it works just great, better then the stock antenna. Transmits and receives great, would highly recommend this antenna, great product.

It is so short I wasn't sure it would meet my needs. Far exceeded my expectations. Using for a mountain top simplex repeater but left the radio in dual watch and was surprised when the repeater transmitted a 146. repeater signal that was programed in the radio. small and well made.

Better than using a 'rubber-ducky' inside of a car. You will need a NMO mount of your choice. The metal cover is just that, a cover, not a mount. I was able to tune this up on GMRS with some trimming of the length. I purchased this for experimentation mainly, and am happy with the functionality and quality for my cost. I found I can tune it to a good SWR with a GMRS transceiver. I would not recommend this as a primary antenna. It is a good improvement over a HT 'ducky', no db gain to speak of. I keep this in my trunk for occasional use.

This is Cut for the 450 Band - But works great on 70cm Ham. I use this as an external mobile antenna for my 70cm ht's, and it works great When I when I need to pack an extra punch on local 440 repeaters or monitor UHF .

This is a monoband (UHF) antenna, so I expected an improvement over dual-band antennae on the UHF band. While the BR-PT450 was better than the Tram 1150 or some of the cheap Jetstream mag-mounts *on UHF*, it wasn't as good on UHF as the BROWNING BR-180 Amateur Dual-Band Mobile Antenna . SWR was excellent across the band, but there were several repeaters that I could not hit with this antenna that magically re-appeared a moment later when I swapped it out for the BR-180. No trimming was needed for the 70cm (440 MHZ) amateur radio band. It's a remarkably simple antenna, and no loading coil means (in theory) more power radiating. You will, of course need an NMO mount, whether mag mount or trunk lip or whatever. I bought this from JM Prime, and it was shipped in a plastic "envelope" that is really just a bag. I'm surprised that it didn't get damaged in transit. One advantage of this antenna is its small size, which is why I bought it. Larger antennae might perform better, but they also change the "look" of your vehicle. The BR-PT450 is only about six inches long and does not stand out, nor does it create a problem when opening your trunk. I wouldn't leave any antenna on during a car wash, but this is easier to handle than a much longer dual-band. If you take it off, don't forget to use a "Rain Cap" for NMO Antenna Mounts to protect your mount. For an urban ham, or mobile GMRS user, this is an acceptable performer with a superior appearance. It will most likely outlast your mount.

again I should have ordered a VHF not UHF the cost was so low I will just throw it in the garbage.

Great antenna, arrived in perfect condition quickly. Installed on NMO mount, threads seemed short on the antenna side, but doubled the washers and was off and running. Would buy again.

Works great, love the small design, gets great range from the roof of my car.
