Sigma EF-610 DG ST Electronic Flash for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

I had no idea what I was missing until I bought this Sigma Flash. I use a Sony SLT a57 camera that has a built-in flash. Every year I am the unofficial photographer for my wife's charity event. The pictures come out ok but a bit dark. The built-in flash was weak and partially cut off at the bottom by my large lens. So I always tried taking photos without flash, thinking I could adjust the ISO, speed and aperture so the photos come out bright and sharp. But that never happened. I was intimidated by the idea of buying a flash. How would the camera settings interact with the flash to give me good photos? I had no idea what to expect and I didn't want to study this phenomenon for hours. Recently I read a short article that explained what TTL is. Through The Lens technology basically lets the add-on flash act like a built-in flash by using the camera's metering system. It sounded simple, though most external flashes have buttons and settings to worry about. When I took a closer look at this flash, I noticed there was a TTL setting. I could set TTL on the flash, and put my camera on Automatic or a PASM setting, and let the flash do its thing. At least, that's what I thought it meant. Sure enough, that's how it works! It's amazingly simple. If you don't want to get all caught up in manual settings and other complicated approaches, you can literally let the flash and camera do all the work. The opposite is true as well, and as I become more familiar with my equipment, I will attempt to change settings and see how that influences my shots. My first photo with the flash was in a room that was fairly dark. I took a photo of my daughter and the shot looked like it was made in daylight. Amazing! If you want to transform your indoor photography without studying for years, get this flash. It does all the work.

When you compare the price of this flash to others, you realize that it doesn't have to be 100% perfect to be worth it. It isn't perfect, but it's good enough. Sometimes the TTL doesn't get it quite right and you get slightly over- or underexposed photos, but it generally gets the job done as long as you know its limitations. If you're a professional, this model probably isn't for you. I had the "Super" version of this flash with my old Pentax and it had all the bells and whistles, more than I really had any idea how to use. I decided to go simpler with this one and I think it'll suffice for what I need.

A decent product, but nothing to write home about. It's a good value for the money, but the built in difuser is cheap and fell off after only 2 weeks of gentle use. The Flash still works well, but it frustrates me to have spent so much money on something that isn't %100

If there had been a choice of no start, I would have chosen that. This product started not to work after taking roughly 10-15 pictures within 2 months of very very causal use and I had to return it. Not expected to fail so fast for a product made in Japan. Also, it only provided enough lighting when it was about 10-15 feet like regular flash. For longer distance, your picture would be under-exposure even the distance is within zoom range advertised by the product and I had to increase MANUALLY the exposure in the camera to guess that I compensated enough. So very disappointing experience for a product made in Japan. I had some other flashlights of a little smaller zoom power and they worked much longer (at least over a year) even none of them can survive for longer than 2 years with a causal use only (like recitals and graduation ceremonies) but definitely they can work for more pictures than this one before they failed and they also did not have such a big problem of under-exposure like this one.

This flash is very flexible and meets all of my needs as an enthusiast photographer. The flash recycle rate is pretty fast, even at full power, when using rechargeable batteries. The battery life seems pretty good as well. The flash is plenty bright for general purpose - I often use it to light back drops (either white or with color gels) and it does the job just fine. It's also flexible, you can use the flash in manual or E/TTL modes and also as a master/slave for other Sigma flashes. The controls do take a bit of getting used to, but after a couple days with them it's not all that complicated. My only complaint is that the battery door is rather cheap plastic and seems pretty flimsy.

Build quality and operation for this flash is perfects. Great flash for under $150 I am using it with Sony a77 ii + hot shoe adapter. I want to add the wireless version of the same flash for the next purchase, to work them with master-slave. Pros + great build quality + quick charging (for amateour photography) + great power + TTL works flawless cons - not a wireless flash

Un cambio espectacular respecto a mi anterior flash, que no contaba con tecnología TTL. Dosifica perfectamente la luz, de forma que no quema los primeros planos. El difusor funciona muy bien, al igual que el reflector. Tiene una potencia adecuada para usar por rebote en el techo, con lo que la iluminación es muy homogénea. Me parece que tiene una muy buena relación calidad/precio.

This was a Christmas prezzie and arrived in good time and was well packed. The flash was purchased to improve on the built in flash on my Pentax K-r. After fitting the batteries and reading the minimal instruction sheet I fitted the flash to the camera, this was a tad fiddly due to the tight fit but I suppose that's a good thing in that the flash is unlikely to fall off. The flash was easy to use and gave much better results than the built in flash when I did a comparison when taking some shots of my grandson. So all in all if you want an easy to use flash that gives better results than the built in flash then this is for you, get one you wont be disapointed.

Ich frage mich, warum es bisher keine Rezession gibt. Also mache ich mal den Anfang. Das Gerät ist für die Preisklasse einfach Super. Die Ausleuchtung passt in der Regel immer und sorgt so für sehr gute Farbentreue Bilder. Die Abstimmung mit meiner Pentax passt. Der automatische Zoom läuft mit dem Zoom des Objektives, so dass es weder zur Unter- noch Überbelichtung kommt. Das einzig negative (von mir bewusst in Kauf genommen) ist, dass die Kamera den Blitz nur im Automatik Modus steuern kann. Da die Bilder aber auch Anstandslos gut werden, kann ich es auch nicht als negativ bewerten. In Preis Leistung und Zuverlässigkeit ist dieses Blitzgerät auf meiner Pentax die ideale Ergänzung. Insbesondere bei Innenaufnahmen steckt es immer auf der Kamera. Auf jeden Fall hat dieses Blitzgerät 5 Sterne verdient. Nach einigen Monaten Gebrauch, ca 4000 Bilder, kann ich das Blitzlicht noch immer getrost empfehlen. In jeder Situation gut zu gebrauchen. Es hat mich bisher nicht im Stich gelassen. Die Belichtung stimmt in 99 % der Fälle. Gerade die vielen Möglichkeiten, das Blitzlicht so auszurichten, dass die Refelktion das Objekt immer bestmöglich ausleuchtet, finde ich super. Die Arretierungen lassen sich mit einer Hand verstellen. Nicht so wie Rezentant 3 schreibt.

Tenia muchas ganas de adquirir mi Flash, viendo varios modelos sin decidirme por uno, un dia me llego esta opcion, y la verdad resulto muy buena, ideal para iniciarse en esto de la iluminacion, trabajarlo y empezar a tomar mejores fotos, la verdad si se nota la diferencia de usar una luz aparte de la que trae integrada la camara.
