Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock (Guitar Bundle) (Xbox 360)

Guitar hero has had it's ups and downs, the up games (2,3,Metallica) the down games (Smash Hits,Van Halen). But this game is definately a high note for them, it has all of the great features that 5 had like: a great instrument difficulty system, good graphics(better than 5 IMO), well put together character customization system, and of course GREAT SONGS! This game is recommended to the hard rock/metal scene BUT there is plenty of classic rock and modern rock, emo kind of stuff.The quest mode is ok, its a great concept but a little tweaking is in order, but it isn't the thing thats gonna keep you busy, it's the star challenges that will do that. Star challenges are in quickplay+, they are song specific challenges that range from note streak to star power bank and whammy sustains for x amount of seconds in a song. That and the power star challenge that uses the powers you unlock in quest mode(assuming you have done quest mode) and use 2 of them in a song and get up to 17 max stars for 1 band member. The stars you get go toward a Call of duty or other shooter style ranking system, which when you hit the next level, you unlock: characters, stages, art, cheats, extras and more!Overall this game is amazing, if you're a non guitar hero fan, please i urge you to try it and if you are a fan of any music game or just a beginner you should buy this game!PROS:Amazing Setlist(search in wikipedia to see what im talking about)Disc imports add to the funPowers are a unique additionStar challenges provide lots of replayabilityCons:Quest mode is ok and its required to unlock the hardest songs.Does not have as much DLC as rock band.

I pre-ordered the guitar bundle version and although the first guitar only lasted about an hour before the strum bar started to malfunction, the replacement has worked great and we've already gotten several hours of play out of it. One annoying thing is that you can't start the xbox console from the guitar like you can with other GH and Rockband Guitars. Our experience is that the GH guitars don't hold up well (we have accumulated an assortment of 5 different GH and RB2 guitars in varying states of functionality). Songs on the game are good, and playing for the extra bonus stars makes it more fun.

This is the first bad review I have had to type. The game Warriors of Rock would get 5 stars if I were reviewing that game alone. The guitar that this bundle came with did not work right out of the package. Over and over while playing it will react like we are pushing the start button. At times pausing and un-pausing repeatedly, other times you can get through a whole song with only one pause. Very frustrating. While not playing, we need to remove the batteries or the Xbox will keep turing on. The strum also squeaks. We ended up buying a different guitar and have had no issues with the new one.

Would never buy from this buyer Asian. In fact I would dissuade anyone from purchasing anything from this but for it my be Mia advertised and\or damaged as my purchase was.I bought this item as it was 50$ and being advertised as an in box guitar game combo.I didn't receive what was advertised. Instead, I received a obviously used GH:WR guitar without the game taped in a garbage bag.I recorded the product in a broken state. The stab job on the bottom of the device was broken off, one of the side clips had broken and will no longer stay attached.I first messaged Amazon about this in which I was asked to talk to the seller first.I messaged the seller in which they replied promptly."I put in the comments that it didn't include the videogame, that's why you need to read before thanks and was listed low price"That is the reply received from the seller.I request a refund as this merchandise is not worth 50$.The seller did go out of their way to refund me $20. But I wanted a a full refund.Be wary.

I suppose it should have been a warning sign that the game was selling at 30% off less than a month after release. However, I ordered it anyway. Thankfully Amazon has a reasonably easy return/replacement process because the first bundle I received had both a broken guitar and a defective game disc.The guitar: My initial guitar had a broken strum bar. It could have been abused during shipping, but I think some of it is due to poor design. The guitar just feels somewhat chintzy overall, and from what I could tell the strum bar is attached by two plastic pins rather than the metal rods used in my older guitars. The replacement guitar is okay so far. The fret buttons and whammy bar are what you'd expect from a Guitar Hero guitar, and the start (i.e. star power) button is nice and large. The strum bar is clicky which I don't care for personally, though I know many like it. It's at least not as loudly clacky as my old Les Paul, but I'd rather the near silence of my Rock Band 2 Strat.The game disc: Since I have many other guitars, I tried to at least play the game. I always install to the hard drive on my XBox, so I started with that. About halfway through the install I received an unreadable disc error. Trying again obtained the same result. I did a bit of online research and found that this is apparently a common problem with the game discs in the guitar bundle. I was able to play a bit without installing the game, but it tended to lock up when loading songs. Apparently there are some bundles with good discs, however, as my replacement installed without a hitch and is playing fine.The gameplay: Well, it's Guitar Hero. I'm a bit disappointed with the song selections. I preferred the variety in GH5 over this, which leans more to the hard rock/heavy metal end of the spectrum. The quest mode adds a bit of gameplay variety, but on the whole there's not much new here. Overall, it's a decent Guitar Hero game. Not great, but not bad either. I'll play it until I earn whatever achievements are within my ability, then probably never play it again.
