Better than I thought
I really wanted the two arm, or articulating arm stands, but went over budget on stepping up a notch or two on the microscope. I really had my doubts about this single armed model properly holding the microscope head, but it's been solid. Doesn't take much to get enough friction to hold the microscopes position, so zero regrets on getting this model. The one thing I will say though, with the two armed model, you'd be able to just leave the horizontal arm loose to move about as you need to. With this single arm, swinging the head back and forth is no issue. There's a memory lock which holds the hight just fine, but sliding in an out is where the double arm would be beneficial. With that said, if the microscope is in the right position the difference between two will be negligible, as there will be far less use for the arm to slide in and out. Once set, it should remain. Just something to consider, if you're contemplating the extra spend.

A fine boom microscope stand
This is a well designed and built stand with good weight. It is stable even when fully extended with my old Nikon SMZ-1 attached. The base unit of my LED light fit on its base, saving bench space and adding weight. The paint job was very good. It is better than I expected and meets my needs.

Great purchase
An excellent piece of equipment. Solidly built, smooth controls. It is a heavy stand and looks to serve me well forever.

Very Stable Base
Expensive. Yes. But this is just what I was looking for; this base is extremely stable! AmScope is the way to go. I took the main support tube off and mounted it to my work bench. That way I can worry even less about stability issues but really is was for clutter issues. :)

OK Boom stand
The boom stand is as described/depicted and is a good make. Beware, though, that when the microscope is fully extended, it barely keeps from overturning. I am contemplating to fix the platform to a table with some screws.
