Upscale detail that adds presentation!
Standard for all my reviews: When reviewing products, I always remain objective and honest about the product or service. I always review with information that I feel others would like to know about the product as I always assume what I'm writing will influence for or against the purchase. I always try to go above and beyond surface characteristics and input into quality, value and application. Most importantly, I end the review with an answer as to whether I'd purchase the product again which I believe is the most critical question pertaining to the item. To manufacturers: Want me to review your items? Just let me know! Practice makes perfect on these, at least for me. Firstly, I tend to not read instructions much and should have. More than anything, just keep two things in mind: 1) Note the fill lines. If you don't, you will not get result you are happy with. The lines are about right but you can fill even just a bit less if desired. 2) Best results with purified water. I tried boiling the water as recommended by others but the results still weren't nice, clear, ice balls. The purified water makes for very clear ice, sometimes with fissures and/or cracks but each is a like a snowflake, unique and I like the 'flaws' in each one. After using bottled water and following the fill-line instructions, I'm not getting really good looking ice balls for my scotch. It's a really nice upscale touch if you are having guests over. Sometimes peeling the enclosure away from the ice balls is a bit tricky but the more you do it, the easier it gets. I'm now keeping 4-6 finished ice balls on hand at all times in a baggy with two more ready to go in the molds. Highly recommend these little guys and may get another set. Great job Cuzzina!

Finally got around to buying me some of these. I love them!
I'm a fan of conversation pieces myself.. and this is just something you don't see enough of. Perfectly round balls of ice. Its really fun to bust these out for parties or casual drinks. I'm writing this review because I feel like this could be used for even more fun activities , for example.. I'm working on making some flavored ice balls too. Next week I'm going to fill one with my favorite fruit juice and see what happens. If it goes well maybe I'll throw in a strawberry or 2 all sliced up! Its actually a fun little thing.. even though it's just filling up a ball to make ice , the kids love it. They like helping and taking the ice out. Oh I almost forgot how funny it was to watch my ferret react to one of them. He thought it was a toy until he realized he could drink it! I really wanted to let everyone know how cool of an experience I'm having and I really didn't expect it. I have been wanting some ice molds like this for years but I couldn't find them anywhere. Its just one of those products I've only seen in a few places at random times and thought "Hey I need some of those!" ; They are very easy to use , well made and very durable. They are made of 100% FDA grade Silicone. And they take up almost no room in the freezer. The box was even nice and compact. A well designed and unexpectedly fun product :) The shipping was on time if not earlier than expected as well. Really no complaints on the ordering or the end product. Will purchase again from this seller =) Thanks Cuzzina for making my kitchen activities with the kids a bit more fun. They want to fill one up everyday lol.

Not what I expected... Updated-Even better than expected.
This is a great idea and very inventive. However I don't see how they are any different than ice cubes. Except they are round. Sure it didn't melt as quickly as an ice cube but it still melted. I do like that you only need one for a glass as they are rather large sphere molds. I think that if someone wanted to take the time and spend an amount of money it would be great for an entertainer. The product isn't something that the run of the mill household would utilize. These would also serve well in hotter climates. As I said before great idea, just not what I had expected originally. Updated - So after a couple more uses I have found these to be very useful in many ways and also a great benefit. First I will start with the benefit. I have always had a problem putting ice cubes in my drink because most of the time the ice cubes will hold the smell of the freezer. I so disliked taking a drink and smelling my freezer. YUK! These molds do not have that smell so i can put them in my drink and enjoy an ice cold drink without the smell. Now for the many uses. My kids immediately asked if we could fill them with juice and make juice pops. We did and with a popsicle stick that fits nicely in the hole you have a juice fruit popsicle. We did lemonade with bits of strawberry. I was worried at first the silicone would hold the smell of the juice, but if you wash immediately afterward there is no problem. I also froze some lemon juice in water so I could have my lemon water. I put it in my water bottle. It was AMAZING! These ice molds have a great many uses. The ideas are limitless really. Get creative. I am going to be purchasing a separate set for my husband. He loves iced coffee, so I will have his own set to freeze coffee in for his daily iced coffee drink. Enjoy them..

Cuzzina Ice Ball Maker Molds...great for people who like to entertain with a bit of flare!
Perfect for individual mixed drinks, pitchers and/or punch bowl as the ice balls melt slowly and keep the beverage from getting watered down. I used distilled water which makes a nice clear ice ball. You can also make the ice balls w/ fruit juices and/or distilled water w/ fruit in it. Easy to make as long as you follow the directions: 1) make sure the insides of the molds are dry before adding the fluid to be used, 2) make sure the ice is perfectly frozen before releasing from the mold (I just leave them overnight & refill in AM to keep a dozen or so on hand at all times), 3) wait 5-10 minutes before PEELING off the mold. I place each individual ice ball in sandwich bags and keep them in a gallon sized ziplock bag for easy use thus preventing any sticking of the balls etc. The only thing that I think that could be improved with this product is that the fill-up line could also be marked by a black line as well as keep the raised line already there...It would be easier to see for someone like me w/ bad eyesight. I haven't downloaded and/or viewed the recipe book yet that comes with these ice ball maker molds so I cannot comment on it yet. I bought 2 sets so I can make 4 ice balls at a time. Good quality product...no leaking etc. I hope they hold up for a long time...we will see.

Necessary novelty or sanity saver? You be the judge!
Do you find yourself constantly filling ice cube trays to keep up with the demand for ice in your household? Are you constantly running out to purchase a bag of ice because the previous bag has been emptied and conveniently discarded in the freezer? Does it seem that no amount of ice is enough for your family's choice of drinks? If you've answered yes to any of these questions, then the Cuzzina ice ball maker molds are for you! For years I've been a slave to monitoring the ice in our household. I finally came to the realization that I needed something bigger to quell the arctic cravings in this house. I searched Amazon and lo and behold I found these sphere molds. 100% FDA approved silicone, BPA free with a 100% lifetime warranty? I ordered them without hesitation! The rest, as the saying goes, is history. I use spring water and fill the molds just below the fill the line, to allow room for expansion. I allow the spheres to sit at room temperature for 8 minutes or so, before I attempt to remove them from the molds. They work perfectly! Everyone uses one sphere for their drink, and it keeps the drink cold without watering it down. I received 3 e-mails from the company, one of which included an e-book of cocktail recipes. Their customer service has been stellar and a wonderful surprise, because let's face it, customer service is an afterthought with most companies nowadays. Thank you Cuzzina, I LOVE your product! I've finally been liberated from filling endless ice trays and going to the store for bags of ice. I made a lot of spheres ahead of time, in anticipation for the demand, so there should be enough to last a little while. Nevertheless, I'm going to stay ahead of the madness and will most likely order another set of these molds. Now if only I could get someone else to make these spheres instead......

Cool Idea...
This product has great creativity... However, I found the ice balls to be very large and didn't fit in some of my glasses.. we have tall more narrow glasses... and you can only make two at a time... they take 6 hours to freeze... so to entertain you would need to make and freeze enough for a small group days before your party! The ice balls cracked before I even took them out of the freezer. The did last a long time and my kiddos had to wait a LONG time before they could suck on theirs.. ha ha! The molds are pretty straight forward to operate.. you just have to make sure your mold is dry dry dry and closed tightly. The ice balls are very easy to remove. I just set them on the counter for a few minutes and they came out very easy!

So round so far, so good!
I am writing this review after making my first four ice balls. I must admit I was pretty stoked when the very first ball emerged to share a glass with a Balvenie Double Wood (pic attached). The ice ball is large and melts much slower than regular cubes, so you get the chill without rapid dilution of your preferred beverage. The creation process is simple but takes some practice depending on how "perfect" you want your ice balls to be. The two halves need to be dry and tightly fitted in order to prevent a thin ice ridge from forming around the hemisphere. I also learned to slightly under-fill the balls to prevent an icy expansion bump emerging from the hole in the top. As the instructions recommend, I let the molds sit for a bit before peeling them off to prevent cracking. All-in-all, I am quite happy with this product. With a little practice I think I will be soon amazing and astounding my guests with smooth, spherical, perfect icy delights!

Doing a side by side comparison on the first day was great. These molds were far superior to the other ...
I ordered these molds and after a quick wash I made my first two. Unbeknownst to me my wife had received silicone molds from a different company a year ago and we found those and filled them also. Doing a side by side comparison on the first day was great. These molds were far superior to the other molds. They have a full line which ensures the ice doesn't split when you remove it from the mold or place it In your drink. As a whiskey and bourbon collector it is rare that I use ice but I ordered these to have with the specific whiskeys that require them. It was also a nice touch that I received three follow up emails with some great ideas to use them in other beverages. One thing I will tell you if you at using it for whiskey is never pour it over the ball, pour your drink first and then use metal tongs to gently place the ice ball in your drink to ensure it doesn't water down the whiskey. The ball will melt slow enough that you should finish your drink before this happens if you use this method.
