Walking Cane - Men's crook handle, x-heavy genuine 1" natural chestnut wood, , 36" long w/rubber tip

Because of a lifetime of wear and tear from a career in heavy manual labor, I'm stuck with damaged joints that are beyond repair. I can still walk, but only for short distances and not without considerable pain. I've learned to live with the pain. My tolerance has risen with my age. So I find myself married to my selection of walking aids. I've tried many, looking for the perfect stick. This one is about as perfect as it gets. Light-weight, incredibly strong for its size, a comfortable and handy curved handle, and for me, a preferred rustic look. I'm not a "silver handled gent's cane" kind of guy. I also have a rattan cane, same size but a little lighter. It is equal to the chestnut stick in all the ways that count, and it too has that rustic look that I prefer. I've learned that using the pair together, one in each hand, has taken more pressure of my weary old bones and using this method while walking has eased my pain considerably. Wood will always be better than any kind of metal walking aid. It absorbs the impact transmitted to your other limbs and joints while walking. Learned that as a career carpenter. If you're looking for a practical solution to your walking problems, either of these sticks are a great choice.

Best cane I've ever had. I bought three so I'd have backup when I broke one (like I have with dozen of canes before). However I'm beginning to think I'll never break one. This is also one of the most comfortable canes I've used, with a broad flat surface on the crook.

Ships fast USPS Priority Mail and well packaged. Great looking cane, strong but lightweight. I’m a heavier guy and the cane has a nice feel and supports me well with my bad knee. I like the idea that it can hang on my arm if I need the use of both hands. Good quality cane at a reasonable price, I would recommend it to friends.

Ok, so I kind of detest the fake pressed wood laminated things and took a chance. It came quick and I was surprised. This thing has knot holes and bumps but is straight-ish and functional. Not that heavy but solid. I cut it shorter with a hacksaw and hated two drip spots in the finish right where you would grab it so found some 400 grit and fixed that. I rather liked the resulting semi-gloss so I de-glossed it with a scouring pad from under the sink. NOW it's perfect and I REALLY like it. Is it worth twice as much as a laminated Chinese kind of thing? Oh hell yeah!

The cane is not 1 inch, the entire shaft tapers from close to 1 inch to 3/4 inch, there is quite a bit of flex in the main shaft when walking, I was expecting a cane that was 1 inch in diameter or slightly greater, This one does not meet the specifications as it was advertised.

I was looking for a hickory cane for its strength and light weight because if you have to use a cane for self defense, it can't be too heavy and needs to flex. It is not quite as strong as American Hickory (11.7 ksi to 10.9 ksi) but is lighter and exceeds it in compressive strength. It's not quite as flexible but approaches Hickory's strength at the rupture point. Be sure it's sweet chestnut (European).

I was disappointed, I can bend the cane a little and I'm not strong. Much smaller diameter that it sounded too. My $15 Carex cane seems much more sturdy and half the price.
