The Instant New York Times bestseller! A Street Cat Named Bob is now a major motion picture, the film’s all-star cast includes Luke Treadway ( Unbroken, Clash of the Titans ), Joanne Froggatt ( Downton Abbey ), and Ruta Gedmintas ( The Borgias ). James is a street musician struggling to make ends meet. Bob is a stray cat looking for somewhere warm to sleep. When James and Bob meet, they forge a never-to-be-forgotten friendship that has been charming readers from Thailand to Turkey. A Street Cat Named Bob is an international sensation, landing on the bestseller list in England for 52 consecutive weeks and selling in 26 countries around the world. When street musician James Bowen found an injured cat curled up in the hallway of his apartment building, he had no idea how much his life was about to change. James was living hand to mouth on the streets of London, barely making enough money to feed himself, and the last thing he needed was a pet. Yet James couldn't resist helping the strikingly intelligent but very sick animal, whom he named Bob. He slowly nursed Bob back to health and then sent the cat on his way, imagining that he would never see him again. But Bob had other ideas. This instant classic about the power of love between man and animal has taken the world by storm and is a perfect gift book for cat lovers. Review: When a street cat turns into a best friend and a second chance in life - I basically loved this book and read it in one sitting. The movie is good, but the book is deeper and even better. A wonderful and very human story of a good guy who finally found his best friend and his second change in life in a cat. Review: True story, uplifting, enjoyable read - I loved this true story of about how a man helped a cat and the cat helped a man. If you like stories that celebrate the strengths in human nature and the strength in animal bonds, read this. Very enjoyable read!

This is obviously James true life story. I'm glad Bob was able to help him out of the darkness. I enjoyed reading it. Thank you for sharing your story, James.

Excellent read, great book, recommended
I downloaded this book on my Kindle and read it in just two days. And I have enjoyed every minute of reading it. The story of James and Bob "adopting" each other against many odds is very heart warming. The general theme of the story is very "down to earth" (it is set in the world of street sellers/buskers after all). And yet you can't also help the feeling that Bob's arrival and commitment was nothing short of a miracle for James as it has set him towards the right path in his life. I heard it said before that animals come to our life for a reason, like little furry angels. Well, James's case is undoubtedly the best proof for that :-) Both James and the cat are something of a celebrity at the moment. There are a few videos of them on the Y-tube and I was thrilled to see the pair after reading about their life and adventures together. They even look like they belong with each other. I was drawn to this book as well by the fact that it is set in London, the city that I love dearly. However, you do not get many artistic descriptions of London from the author. Rather, we can see the city through the street person's eyes, and the picture is rather cold and soulless. This way the city appears like any other world megapolis. With its constant wailing of police sirens in the background, tourist crowds, rushing business people, street sellers, drunks, small mercies and big challenges. I have been to London many times so I can see the places mentioned in the book, such as Covent Garden, and matching them with the picture above gave me a new perspective on how multi-faceted and ever-changing London really is. I also liked reading the observations of people that James makes - his reflections are fair yet respectful and no bitter in any way despite his shortcomings, which I think testifies of his inner strength and kindness as a person. I really liked the description of a police warden walking past him with a stern face, and then when she saw Bob the cat her face apparently turned human and even smiled :-) All in all, I can definitely recommend this wonderful book. There is a strong hope in my heart that the amazing story of the guy and his cat has a happy ending. Best of luck and blessings to you both, James and Bob!!

Great and encouraging story about two lost beings finding their way together
This is a really encouraging and heart warming story of a remarkable young man and a remarkable cat who find each other. Both had been a throw aways in British society. It does reflect the better system of support in England, compared to the US, to get help, both for man and cat. Their partnership creates better life together. Their love for one another shines out. It encourages me with my own lost family members.

Simple uplifting story - read on Kindle
Given the glowing reviews, I somehow expected more. Having always been an animal lover, particularly drawn to cats, I was really looking forward to this one. I understood that it was not going to be spectacular literary prose and its strength and weakness lay in the style of narrative from a broken, uneducated drug addict cleaning up his act. When I went through a divorce 12 years ago, my 2 cats provided comfort beyond what I imagined possible. I did not need human company, just the steadfast, unjudgemental companionship of cats. James Bowen takes us through his dilemma of taking on the responsibility of caring for another creature when he is barely able to take care of, or provide for himself, extremely convincingly. The disappontment comes in that the book is repetetive and somewhat drawn out at times and feels like it was written by a 5th grader, even though there is the adult element of him being a homeless, recovering addict. As a so-called IT expert, he must have been aware that he would have made it onto the internet, or YouTube! At the very least, he knew that the Bob/James team was famous. By its very brevity, I got the feeling that he was going to try to turn this into a series from the outset. Hence, I don't think I will bother with the rest of the series. Keeping up to date with James and Bob's short stories would be too costly for what it offers. Not that I don't wish them continued success. That said, I would truly have loved a character like Bob to have entered my life!

sempre me emociona
Bob e James sempre me emocionam.

Sweet.....
I read the book in a day. I just loved it! The story is very moving and you cannot avoid to be touched by it. I have 3 cats and I know how loving, sensitive, intelligent and special cats are. This young man was given a great gift: a second chance in life. Not everybody gets it, and Bob was an angel in disguise.

Bob leaves his paw prints in our hearts !!
I first happened to see a status in FB about an upcoming movie entitled "A Street Cat Named Bob," in my veterinary doctor's wall. Me being a fortunate owner of more than dozen cats, was eager to know more about James and his much celebrated feline friend Bob. Hence, I placed an order of this book and I wasn't disappointed. The story of James and Bob, from how they met to how their lives transformed towards positive direction was really heart melting. It wasn't like all fell in place, but the responsibility and perseverance to be there through think and thin was inspiring. The narration made this book even more interesting read. A truly remarkable story of hope and love !! P.S: All my cats loved Bob & James. Attached is a pic, where one of my kittens Julie feeling jolly reading about Bob and his human friend !!!
