Hoppe's Air Pistol and Air Rifle Maintenance Kit

This is a very basic cleaning kit that meets the basic needs. The oil is very good, one of the best on the market. It is not a solvent. Here is one little trick when you use this rod on a gun with a rifled bore. When you attach the cleaning brush or brass knob to the rod, don't tighten it all the way. Make sure that the device can spin freely on the rod end thread thus allowing the brush or the swab to follow the grooves of the rifling. Effective cleaning and lubricating can only be achieved in this fashion. In a smooth bore this obviously does not matter. As far as using steel or brass brushes is concerned you need to consider this: If you use a pellet rifle pushing the lead projectile at speeds greater than 1,000 fps you will most likely experience barrel leading that can greatly affect accuracy. Most likely you will need to use a steel or brass brush to get rid of the lead build-up. Using a steel or brass brush in the method described above will drastically reduce or even eliminate barrel damage. A brass brush will usually not damage a barrel anyway. I give this kit a 5 Star rating because the price is right and it does for me what it supposed to do. For my real firearms I use a professional kit that has no rods thin enough to fit into a .177 bore. I recently resumed shooting air guns, so I needed this basic kit. I speak from more than 6 decades of extensive firearms experience, including 8 years of US Army service.

This is an awesome kit, the perfect answer to getting my stuck pellets out of the barrel of my Crosman p1377. When you are having fun shooting targets and all of a sudden a pellet gets stuck in the camber farther than you can get it out with a sharp tool, the fun is over. At first I thought using a straighten clothes wire hanger would be a good choice to push back the stuck pellet, but I read that it could damage the barrel in some way. So I had to discard that option and look for something that was specially made for that task. This kit has three steel sections. (And the oil bottle but, but a rather use pellgunoil) Two of them measure about 11 ½ inches and the one with the loop is about 10 ¾ (loop included). It includes a brass fitting of about 2’’ and a wire brush (the section that fits on the steel rod is brass but the twisted part that holds the bush hairs is steel) is about 3’’. All pieces are threaded to make a long rod with either brass fitting. The three sections (steel), once put together measure 32 ¼ (without counting the round loop), so if your air gun has something needing this length, you are good to go. I only needed the single looped section because my p1377 has a short barrel.

I love this cleaning kit, it works very well at cleaning my air rifle. The kit comes with every thing you need to clean the barrel of your air rifle and only the barrel. Do not use the oil in this kit in your break barrel air rifle's air chamber, only in the barrel. The oil in the kit will cause dieseling, used it the air chamber. Over all it is a great cleaning kit for your air rifles.

This is the third firearm cleaning kit I have bought. The first kit was an Outers. I really bought that one to clean my smokeless powder fireams. It would not work on my airguns. Then I bought an RWS .177/.22 cleaning kit. That one did not work out well. The cleaning patch attachment worked okay, but the swabs and brushes would not work. Then I ordered this kit. Instant success. The rod is just fine, and both the cleaning patch attachment, and the cleaning brush work just fine. Cleaned my Daisy Model 880 with no drama. I would prefer nylon brushes to bronze due to airguns having barrels that are easier to damage. But, I ordered some nylon brushes that will fit this cleaning rod. So, the kit does the job it was designed for. Comes with Hoppe's oil, and some patches for .177 airguns. Perfect.

All you need to keep a firearm in good condition. Oil, ramrod, and patches.

This AirGun cleaning kit works very well. It is perfect for my Benjamin Maximus PCP .177. A bore snake will not work with my bolt action, because the bolt in in the way. I don't need to disassemble the rifle to do a basic bore cleaning. The brush included has plastic bristles. Zero damage to a STEEL bore. It uses a jig to push the cleaning swab through the bore. I have to pluck out the swab once it gets to the breach opening. The included oil is not a cleaning oil per-say. It is a simple clear lube oil. The ONLY thing "wrong" with this kit, is that it needs an eyelet attachment to pull the swab back out, allowing a second pass on the way out. Use this product with confidents.

I have several .177 pellet guns and have not had a good way of cleaning the bore. This item screws together securely does a very nice job of removing crud and lead from the bore so that it shines like new again. The oil does not have a strong smell and is absorbed well in wood making it shine too. It comes with a bore brush and a brass pad ram with about a half inch stack of bore pads. The case that it comes in is hard clear plastic and works well for storage of the items and room for other brushes or swabs that you might have or get. It is about 1x2x12 inches and should last quite awhile. I am very pleased with this item do not know why I did not get one sooner.

This does work well. It is thin, which is needed, so care is required.

Good quality rods...but you can find a similar kit for about 10$ at a stor... 66.6 % less!!
