Collector's Edition Input as well as the game itself, overall is good
The only thing I would've wished for differently, is the soundtrack to have it's own jewel case(Like Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning did), and have the making of Soul Calibur fit in that dang plastic circle easier. The overall content of the Collector's Edition as well as the presentation is very good. The Dark Armor Set looks great, haven't tried out the White yet. As for the game, the graphics are a vast improvement, ring outs are still around but not as easy to do, wall combo's are encouraged. There is a new Soul Gauge system, called the Critical Gauge, that allow you to store 2 levels of Soul, broken down into 4 sub stocks. At first, I also thought it was a watered down system considering there is no handicap in player matches, that items don't increase the HP bar, you can't combine stats to be able to use certain equipment, there is no life drain, no skills to pick from. Every ability and attack does a certain amount of damage, and I am sure a lot of the bad reviews are from bad players. However, where the system shines, is that every character has strengths and weaknesses, by equipping certain gear on certain players, would make it overpowering, which is why that creation was taken out. Yes a lot of people hate it, however the moves are a lot more complicated than simple button mashing. Creation is still really good, and it encourages you to play the game by leveling up, to unlock new equipment, characters, and titles. The trophies aren't annoying or hard(Except max level) it just takes time and you have to actually learn how to play the game. The Training mode is also a very welcomed feature, allowing you to learn how to do moves, without the pressure of getting your butt handed to you in ranked matches, or arcade mode. A lot of people will say SoulCalibur IV is better, because it allowed way more stat customization, Tower of Souls was an awesome challenge mode, and characters gained more with style leveling vs a flat system, however I think where SoulCalibur V shines, is the depth of the combat itself. There is far more to the game than button mashing. I honestly like both games for different reasons. But I highly recommend picking up the SoulCalibur V Strategy Guide, I never thought it was possible to make 479 pages on a fighting game but they did it. http://www.amazon.com/SOULCALIBUR-Official-Guide-Future-Press/dp/3869930551/ref=dp_ob_title_bk

Disappointing creation system, enjoyable game.
I don't mind having the game. It's alright. And, it only adds to my Soul Calibur collection. However, it was disappointing because I thought the game itself would be disappointing. And it was. As far as the creation mode. I expected more originality like from Soul Calibur 3 with creations. But that was not the case. Sure in SC3 they may have had some issues with the other character classes but the developers I feel didn't try to fix that problem in future games SCIV or SCV at all. Not one oune of effort in trying. I don't want my characters to be an exact copy of someone else. That isn't the purpose of creation and creativity. The purpose of creating is to be unique and creative. And for each individual player to have something all their own.

Good game. Awesome Collector's Edition!
The Collector's Edition of SoulCalibur V looks awesome! It comes with the soundtrack, an art book, and a bonus Blu-ray disc. These items are all in a old book like case which looks awesome! The art book has great art in it and the soundtrack cd is at the back of it. Although I do wish that the Soundtrack came in its own case it still looks ok. As for the game. The game looks beautiful, the fighting is amazing. This is what SoulCalibur is all about. The new critical moves makes you have to think when you fight. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME IF YOU JUST WANT TO PLAY STORY MODE!!!!! IT STINKS! The story mode is way to short and can be beaten in an hour. This game is all for the multiplayer!

Great Collection For A Great Price
It exceeded my expectations and being a used copy (since the card offers probably expired) I was pleased to receive the goodies and the game for a tremendous price. The game is exciting (helps understand the fighting system of Lost Swords a bit easier too) and the collection of music takes one back into SC past and relive some great battles from the previous titles. I thought it was great; you get two other dics, besides the game, a nice art book with character bios and stories and the making of SCV. All of this is a great grab for SV fans. It's worth the money if yo're a true SC fan like myself to add to your other collections!!

horribly disappointing
Soul Calibur has been my favorite game series since I first played it on the dreamcast. I bought a ps2 to be able to play II and III. I bought a ps3 primarily to play IV, bought a themed joystick for IV as well, and pre-ordered the collector's edition of V. I now wish I had not ordered V at all... it has some pretty graphics, but the lack of content for nearly all the characters makes the game just unlikeable for me. I'll be going back to earlier versions of the game instead.

Don't know what they were thinking when they created this game, the Limited Edition couldn't even save it.
I don't think I have ever been this dissapointed by a great games sequel before. I feel I must say the limited edition is awesome, it came in a cool book like case, with a great soundtrack, a pretty good artbook, cool character creation armor, and a making of dvd that I haven't actually watched. But none of that could save the mistake the creators have made here and they should have thier noses rubbed in it so they don't do this again. First off the biggest dissapointment about this game is the story crap, there is only one story to the game and you only get to play as three different characters. There is no mode for playing through the game with each character and seeing their story, no one other then the main three have a story they are just kinda there. The story itself if pretty good but seems really rushed, it leaves some stuff unanswered, it's almost like they got bored and didn't feel like finishing and just threw some stuff together and called it good. Some new characters are kinda cool but not as cool as the ones they replaced. Some fighting styles are just gone like Zasalamel, Yun-Seong, Talim and im sure there is more I can't think of right now, they did add some fighting styles though that are just alright. But since there is no story for the other characters it doesn't explain the new characters at all they are just there. The characters that aren't in this game have no explanation to where they are they just simply vanished. They also made this game rediculously hard, the computer doesn't really fight they just knock you down and keep you down by beating you to death, its highly unfair. The story mode is really easy until near the end then it gets really tough. then there is another mode called legendary souls which is just extremly difficult and pointless. So this game is just unnecesarily hard. So if you get angry easily at games I do not reccommend this game. The character creation in this game is great so far, I don't know how many unlockable items there is since im not the top level but I have created some pretty awesome characters so far. They did improve the creation but still doesn't save the game. The voice changer is pretty awful in creation though after barely altering it your character starts to sound like a robot. The online isn't bad either, so far I haven't had connection problems and no lag yet. I have had fun with the online. I don't have hope for any dlc, unless they add an actual story mode for this game. But still don't know if that would help this game. So yeah I dont recommend buying this game I only enjoyed the creation and the online the rest of the game was just a huge dissapointment. Some people complained about the change in the fighting styles but I didn't have much of a problem with that, it does suck at first but I got use to it rather quickly. This game was a trainwreck, so dissapointing and I don't know how the creators thought half of this game was a good idea, they did a great job with all the other Soul Caliburs but this one goes way downhill. Giving it 2 stars may be a bit harsh but I just can't believe the mistakes they made it was like a punch in the face. Hopefully they realize thier mistakes and not screw up the 6th game.

"You're full of nothing"-SC 2
I've played a few SC titles and I muat say this is a let.down. The storyline was fine, but very short. About Patroklos and Phyrra. I was mostly mad about there not being any arcade mode individual character storyline. So playing arcade was boring. Online mode is the only entertaining thing, but I missed that deadline since I just bought this game and no one is really online. IMPORTANT: All DLC still works(as of 2015) so the person complaining about their dlc not working is inaccurate. Both the character and knight equipment dlc worked for me. Creation mode is great, just like in SC 4, except I enjoyed SC 4's creation more. Legendary mode is very difficult, I cannot defeat Kilik yet. Lots of characters, but I miss people like: Talim, Seong-Mi Na, Cassandra, Sophitia. With the exception of Talim, you can play with all these characters on "SC Lost Swords" free on the PS3. Give it a try. I hope there will be a SC 6 for the PS4 with classic and new characters and improvememts.

My DLC voucher worked just fine
I purchased this version because of the art book and soundtrack. I was rather indifferent to the DLC code not working going in but I decided to try it out to confirm to find out it actually worked. I went to the redeem codes section of the XMB because in my past experience the codes don't always work properly when you go into the PSN store to redeem them. All in all I am happy with my purchase and it goes without saying that the game plays and looks magnificent. Its just what I need to get back in shape for the looming Soul Calibur II online re-release.
