The Strongest NIV Exhaustive Concordance (Strongest Strong's)

Very great study supplementary!
I bought this Concordance because a friend of mine recommended it to me, and it was a great price here on Amazon. I don't particularly like the NIV, but I don't dislike it either, and I have an NIV on hand for comparison anyway. Actually the more I use it to reference to use this Concordance, the more I like it.The Concordance itself is actually not that hard to use. Other users are saying it's not for beginners, and etc. But, I'm a beginner; I'm not a bible student by any means; I just wanted something to really get the meaning of what the text is saying. The referencing system goes like this: In there back there are two indexes, a Hebrew and an Greek. The Hebrew numbers are for the Old Testament, the Greek are for the New Testament. If you look up a word, say, "FEAR", the first entry for FEAR says this:-FEAR (260)[Afraid, Feared, Fearful, Fearfully, Fearing, Fearlessly, Fears, Fearsome, Fright, Frighten, Frightened, Frightening, God-Fearing]--Ge 9:2 The f and dread of you will fall upon you all 4616The (260) tells you how many times the word FEAR appears in the NIV text. The words in the brackets tells you related words. If you can't find the verse in FEAR, it might be under Afraid, Fearful, Fearfully, etc etcThen it give you a list of (260) verses where FEAR is used, and the first one is Genesis 9:2. They abbreviate the word FEAR with 'f.'The number at the end, 4616, is the index number to look up in the back of the book, to get the specific meaning of the Hebrew word translators used and translated into 'FEAR.'The power of this is, different usages of the word 'FEAR' can be different words in Hebrew, with different meanings, but the English translators put them all to mean our single-meaning, English "fear."Some entries will have more than one reference number, such as:-1Sa 28:20 filled with f because of Samuel's words. 3707+4394So you look up 3707, and 4394, to get the combined meaning of the what English translators made into 'fear.'Very powerful tool.Overall, very happy with using it! Definitely adds a depth to any kind of study or even casual reading of the Bible. If you want to get serious about bible study, this is highly recommended!

Excellent Resource
So... why would you need one of these in today's digital world, you ask? I'm an experienced user of Logos, and WordSearch, so it would seem I wouldn't need a book like this, but when using the NIV, even Logos doesn't have a way (without spending a lot of extra money) to get to the Hebrew Root word, which is very important in exegetical study of the Old Testament.WordSearch, even the totally free version (BibleVerse 4), is great at providing a listing of every instance of a particular word. It is an invaluable tool, but in order to get very far when it comes to the original text, a substantial investment is needed. Same for Logos. This book not only gets you a listing of every listing of every word used in the NIV translation, it also gives you the Hebrew or Greek word that the word is derived from, and it will get you to not only the corresponding Strong's number, but it will also get you the GK number, and the number to the Hebrew Root number, which can then be looked up in Logos' Hebrew tools.Plus, having a physical book is great for leaving a book mark in for easily returning to a listing. Even in today's digital age, having a book to quickly reference is an asset that I didn't fully realize until I picked this book up for a class I'm taking. It has quickly become an incredible asset for my personal study, and I've dusted off its cousin, the "Strongest Strong's NASB Concordance"... together, they're a tremendous resource in gaining a fuller appreciation for the manuscripts the versions are based on.I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone considering picking it up. It is a resource that I would absolutely miss if I didn't have it.

This Bible study tool allows me to quickly find the meaning of words in the original languages.
I am a pastor and I use the Strongest NIV Exhaustive Concordance as a study tool in preparation for sermons on a regular basis. I can quickly find the meaning of words in the original Greek and Hebrew and this is very helpful in understanding the literal meaning of a text of Scripture before moving on to interpretation and application.Mark Lawrence, PastorStony Brook Community Church of South Hadley, Massachusetts

An excellent concordance.
An excellent concordance. I love the fact that it gives the number of times the Hebrew or Greek work was used, and into what English words it was translated with the number of times it was translated into each word. That is so helpful when doing word studies, although the context of each word translation still need to be establish, it is a very helpful tool. The one major gripe I have is it uses the G/K numbering system which in itself is fine, but it also has an index in the back of G/K to Strong's and Strong's to G/K numbers. This index is worthless, the numbers that I have looked up, and tried to cross over not one has come up right, although this has only been a couple dozen so far. I have the "The New Strong's".

Powerful Bible study tool
As part of my daily devotions I try to read three chapters of the Bible every day. But I also like to supplement my general reading with periodic "deep-dive" studies of a particular book of the Bible. Most non-scholars like myself will need only three basic tools for "deep-dive" study:* A good Bible dictionary like The New Unger's Bible Dictionary.* A good single-volume Bible commentary. Search the internet for recommendations on the best one-volume commentaries. I use the MacArthur Bible Commentary.* A good concordance.I bought The Strongest NIV Exhaustive Concordance many months ago and I'm very happy with it. A concordance lists exactly where each word is used in the Bible and also links the NIV English translation to the manuscript Hebrew and Greek root words. A concordance is an amazing resource and will become an invaluable tool in your study of God's Word.

Look-up that verse!
Although it has all the words of the Bible, it does not contain all the verses but it's still very useful. Ann Cooper

Content great!
The content is great and this work has been of great use already in my studies. There is no complaint about the quality of the resource. It gets 5 stars. However, there was a section of 48 pages that was cut incorrectly and bound in a way that the pages do not match up-- it is defective. But I won't pay for shipping to return the heavy book; the cost is too high. But as a consumer, I must caution the buyer that other books could have the same problem as mine. (No loss of written material, though.)
