They're Ernies, of course they're good dummy
I generally prefer flatwounds but decided to remind myself why and by the almighty power of Beefcake the Mighty himself do I remember why after popping these on my axe. These are not bad strings by any means, E Balls have yet to disappoint me over the last two decades with their sound and feel, they are however bad strings for my preferences and play style.Tldr: They're Ernie Balls, they'll be good no matter what just make sure you remember which ones you prefer

Great strings but use caution
I went to buy a replacement set as I had been using EB Cobalts for a while now. I noticed a "used" set posted in original packaging and in good condition, so I thought I could save a few bucks and break-in time. Unfortunately, the "E" was already unraveling and the original buyer returned them and Amazon resold them. Once the outer ribbon starts unraveling they're no good. The original buyer had cut the string, probably before bending it, and it unraveled. Good for the buyer, bad for me. I requested a return and ordered a "new" set. That set came the next day and worked great! Lessons learned, 1) don't buy used strings, 2) bend before cutting or wind the whole string(looks unsightly I know) and 3) buy Amazon as they back their products and mistakes.

Great tone but delicate
I gave these strings 2 stars in my first review because the low E snapped above the ball after running it through the body and stretching it. But I have to confess, no other round sounds as good as these. They have no raspiness and provide the most "middy" tone of any round string I've ever tried, and I have tried many. For hex cores they aren't too stiff, and feel very smooth under the fingers. Just treat them gently and be careful when stretching. The E broke during installation and the A went dead after a few weeks.

Need to cut through the mix? These are the ones
Great strings. Need to cut through the mix or if you need a little more output these are the ones for you. Put them on a carvin lb75 and increased the output which made the audio guy at church happy. If you dig in you get a piano like sound but still has a nice low end growl for me.

Get them!
These are terrific strings. I tried them on a p bass for some studio work. Great clarity and tone. Almost zero break in time and they last for a really long time. Highly recommended!

Really good sound
These really brought out a heavy and clear sound in my bass. Look forward to using these for years to come

Great tone
Firstly let me address the the 1 star reviewers most common complaint, which is that the strings unravel when you cut them. This can happen on any bass string as most of us will know. To prevent it you need to bend the string through 90 degrees with a pair of pliers about 15mm or 1/2inch behind where you want to make the cut and then make the cut. Don't cut the string before bending it.The string tone is not as bright as stainless and has a fuller sound and on my P bass there is slightly more "grind". Sustain is the same as stainless Ernie Balls as far as I can tell. I really like it for heavier rock and even pop and jazz. Not as suitable for blues, country and so on. But then flats or tapewounds are required anyway. It's horses for courses. From a pickup output point of view I do think they are louder when I'm playing through an amp, but when I'm recording I am not changing my gain at all so... idk.Anyway, bottom line, I'm using these strings now and have no intention of changing any time soon.

Strung Along
Sounded great initially. Played 2 gigs and thought I'd found the perfect strings - felt great, nice punch and brightness without being too bright. I always wipe the strings down after playing. Pulled the bass out of it's case a couple of weeks later and noted that the strings felt sticky. On closer inspection it seems that parts of the strings have what appears to be rust patches. I have tried to clean them up but basically these are now unplayable. Disappointed to say the least and a total waste of money - these things aren't cheap, especially if you can only get a couple of gigs out of them.

Bad batches of these
The E string of this pack unravelled and broke on me as soon as I tried to fit it to the bass. I have done a bit of searching online and it looks as if this has happened to some other users of these strings. Not good at all when you consider the price of these strings!I would like to get a refund or replacement for these strings, but I can't return them now as I have already opened them all and have 3 of them fitted to my bass guitar (and threw the 4th one straight in the bin).Absolutely useless.

Fantastic strings
These strings are immense. Feel silky smooth (a nice middle ground between flats and rounds) but have so much punch in every frequency range. Nice glassy highs, and a tight low end that will take your head off. Probably more suited for the heavier side of music, but I imagine quite versatile none the less

Cobalt Regular Slinky Bass Strings (4 - Strings)
I've bought a packet of these strings twice now (one for each bass). They're the best set of strings I've ever used on bass. The high ends are bright and the low ends are nice 'n' crunchy too. These strings will cut through the mix and offer a phenomenal bass tone overall. They're comfortable to play with and definitely worth the money in my personal opinion. I can't recommend these enough.
