A Fine Rendition Of The Venerable H1
UPDATE 10/14/2017: Well, its been over 17-months since installing these and everything's still 5X5, so they get bumped to five stars.Keep in mind that these Quartz-Halogen bulbs are in no way substitutes for HID or even high quality LED bulbs fitted into proper lamp housings...The LED technology, IMO, is not quite there yet, for the plug & play retrofitting of headlamps not specifically designed for specific LED bulbs. The results from the various LEDs intended for retrofit are all over the place because the bulb designs are all over the place...Whereas, a traditional H1 is pretty much an H1, and the mechanical specifications are standardized enough to use it in any lamp specced for an H1 bulb, that is not the case with the various LED bulbs offered for retrofit. There appears to be no SAE standard applied to individual LED bulb styles.Retrofitting LED bulbs into headlamps successfully still seems to be a very "hit or miss" proposition right now. And don't be fooled by the brighter appearing light, because without the proper beam pattern, that extra brightness is useless--even dangerous!Further, some headlamp nacelles, like those of my Spec-D Tuning Headlamps, won't accommodate the bulky cooling fans or heat sinks on the H1 Retrofit LED bulbs currently offered. And I'm not about to cobble the lamps to make someone's bulbs work.Note: Some of the "hack retrofits" I've seen on You Tube to make these LED bulbs work, leave me shaking my head. Yes, the weather seal at the back of the headlamp matters--a lot!A quartz-halogen bulb upgrade still makes the most sense for many vehicles and applications.Note: Do not just throw a 100 watt quartz-halogen bulb into a lamp not rated for that much wattage by the OEM. You can damage your vehicle's wiring and/or headlamp / driving lamp / fog lamp nacelles by doing so! Insurance will not cover a vehicle fire caused by retrofitting non OEM equipment to your vehicle!**********Original Review...These produce a noticeably brighter light than the stock bulbs in my new Spec-D Projector Headlights did, and in the slightly warm-white spectrum that I prefer for my main driving lights.Blue-shifted light is not at all optimal for the human eye-brain to see with at night. In fact, we see better with the warmer wavelengths.Still, there's nothing exactly "Wow!" about these bulbs either, except that they produce a hell of a lot of light from a very tiny bulb. If memory serves, the venerable H1 was the first automotive quartz-halogen light bulb put into service.Packaging and build-quality are both first-rate. Obvious quality.I can't speak to longevity yet. But if they last, I may well buy them again.NOTE: As you may know, you should never touch a quartz-halogen bulb with your fingers, as doing so will lead to early bulb failure. If you do accidentally touch the bulb, clean it immediately with alcohol (90% or pure denatured) and a clean white cloth (I use 100% cotton balls) and blow it dry with canned air. You can then use the bulb and expect the full life from it.RayB

Awesome bulbs!
One of the own bulbs finally bit the dust on my 2007 Subaru Forester, sending me on a hunt for decent replacement headlight bulbs. I wavered between a couple of more prolific brands, and happened upon these in my searching.I began by replacing the burnt out bulb to see a comparison of them side by side. The Osrams are noticeably whiter and brighter, at least my eyes indicated as much, than the stock bulbs.Night time illuminations is way better than the stock bulbs! They illuminate better and the whiter color helps things stand out better.I am quite satisfied with these headlights! I would purchase them again without hesitation!1/22/16 update: I have been running these on the parking light setting which means they run at daytime running lamp voltage, and they are brighter than the OEM bulbs when I turned the OEM bulbs to regular headlights on. If I run these Osram bulbs at regular headlight on setting they are even brighter still. I'm hoping that the daytime running lamp voltage level will prolong their life as opposed to running them at full power.

Great price for the H1 pair
Worth it for the price. I got the H1 for my Volkswagen, I have replaced the headlights and the new lights use an H1. I was disappointed with the og bulbs and wanted better, a friend recommended these. Noticeably brighter than the stock bulbs. Not super ultra crazy bright though. DEFINITELY worth the price as a pair of standard at retail store are over $20, but I'm still keeping my eyes out for a better brightness. I have trouble seeing at night in the rain... we haven't had rain in the evening that I've had to drive in. Will edit if needed when I have said experience.

Best Halogen Bulb
First off, insanely fast, free shipping. Was set between these and the competing Philips vision bulb. I opted for the cooler tone vs the bright warm bulb. All the comparisons I've seen has shown the Night Breaker bulb to be cooler and brighter than the Philips. They're also brighter than the Sylvania zxe bulb which is odd due to Osram being the parent company of Sylvania now. These are for the H1 bulb. Will post on the order for the H11 when they arrive.Pros:Brighter than Philips and SylvaniaCheaperMade in GermanyThis seller, amazing shippingCool nameCons:Yet to be confirmed, but all my research has lead me to believe they have a very short life at less than a year's lifespan.

but I am used to a bit better bulb life
I purchased in 3/2016. Burned out by 2/2017- both bulbs within an hour of each other. I suppose it's consistent, but I am used to a bit better bulb life. I wonder if the cobalt coating causes heat build up and the shorter life. The quality was good- clear and bright light.

Do you need headlights? These are headlights.
When one of my low-beam headlamps burnt out on my 2006 Subaru forester, I consulted my owner's manual, and it said that I needed an H1 bulb. So I went to the local auto parts store to buy one. I physically picked up a bulb and took it to the counter, and the associate asked me what kind of car I had. I told him, and he said "this isn't the bulb you need. Let me check in back for the bulb you need." He couldn't find it, and kept insisting that I did not need an H1 bulb. Frustrated I left and ordered these on Amazon.I installed them (quite an easy job) and was stunned at how bad my old headlights were. These are pretty nice for the price, and allow me to see very well at night. The number of innocent little animals I have run over has been reduced by at least 75 percent since installing these. Thanks, Osram.

Brighter but whiter is not very noticeable
The output seems brighter but not very noticeable different on whiteness. See pic attached. Just had the bulb installed so no input on bulb life.
