Lightweight, flexible sole, breathable
I've had these for several months now and worn them hiking quite a bit. Overall I am very happy with them. I ordered these particular shoes because they are lightweight and flexible for a hiking shoe, which I prefer (I often hike in Teva sandals or Vibrams). If you prefer a more sturdy hiking boot these are not for you.I live in the desert where the hiking trails are sandy and rocky. These shoes do get some sandy dust creeping in between your toes, but that's the price you pay for the breathability. I think it's a worthwhile trade off. They have good traction for rocky uneven surfaces and going up and down steep trails.I've also worn them to hike in the forest on dirt trails, which they worked well for. Good traction in that setting as well.I have not worn them on muddy or wet trails. I'm guessing they would not be ideal for that. The breathable material would definitely let your feet get wet.So, final review: These are excellent in a hotter climate and for people who prefer a lightweight flexible shoe that allows you to feel the terrain you're hiking in. They fit true to size. My feet are wide at the ball and medium width at the heel. The shape of this shoe works great for me. I wouldn't expect it to be great if you have a narrow foot.

Lightweight, but a workhorse!
I bought these just days before a ten day trip to several of the Utah National Parks. I am a photography enthusiast, and knew I would be doing some moderate hiking every day to capture those scenic vistas. Knowing that ordinary sneakers would not be enough, I researched hiking boots and shoes, and bought a pair of each. These reminded me of a sneaker, but with a much more serious tread.I was pleasantly surprised by how light these were. Having never worn hiking boots before, I was afraid of how heavy they would be, especially a few miles into any trail. I ended up wearing my Merrell's almost every day of the trip. I was willing to risk less ankle support compared to a hiking boot for the lighter weight of these shoes. In Arches National Park, we ended up hiking the Devil's Garden Trail, not knowing we would be climbing slickrock, balancing on steep inclines, and walking across ledges with some steep drop-offs. I was concerned about not having my boots for this, but these shoes performed like a champ! I felt like I was gripping the rocky surfaces well, and did not slip at all on the spots that were sand covered. Not having broken these in much at all prior to our trip, I was concerned about getting blisters. I went the entire 10 days with no issues, wearing a mixture of meshy breathable and athletic tube socks with them. The weather was mid 60s, so I appreciated the meshy breathability of the shoes. I wasn't particularly crazy about the color combinations available, but I definitely chose function over fashion, and never looked back. I found the fit true to size, and my only small nitpick is that I seemed to be retying my laces a bit more than usual.

Super grippy shoes, better for day hiking on rocks
Amazon has the best price for these shoes than anywhere else I've found. Sadly I ordered too late and had to go to a local store and pay $30 more. These shoes deserve a thorough review. I took them out of the box and used them for a backpacking trip to Havasupai.I backpacked down the canyon with these for 8 miles on rocky ground and 12 more the next day. Without ankle support, I rolled my ankle quite a bit with these. Especially carrying 35lbs on my back.I did like that these shoes are super grippy. I can walk over angled rocks and wouldn't slip. The cushioning is not too much. Some people like walking on pillowtop shoes but that makes for bad form and loss of stability. This shoes light cushioning gives you the ability to grip the earth and feel everything. The hike itself was very difficult yet these shoes held up well. I think they would be ideal for day hikes and walking on rocky slippery surfaces. They did fine with this trip, but I would opt for shoes with ankle support. These shoes need no break in time and I like that they are flattering for large feet (size 9)I had am 8 hour drive to trailhead and wore these shoes. A few hours in my feet started cramping. It's important to just keep this for its intended function

Good but not as good as they used to be
I had the previous version of this shoe, and they lasted me several years. I use them for walking and also for work. I like the styling of the shoe and the fact that they don't make my feet look bigger than they already are. I also liked the anti-microbial footbed in the previous pair; they never got smelly. That looks a little different in the new pair, but I'm assuming they have the same function. I had to replace the old pair with these because a crack developed on the outside of each shoe where my foot flexes at the ball, so it didn't look very good for work. Also, I had literally walked the tread off the soles. These shoes run a little small so order up half a size. I normally wear 8.5 but the 9 provides a bit more room for my toesEDIT: After wearing these for a while now, I had to drop my rating to 4 stars. The footbed in this latest Siren version is NOT like the previous footbed. These have very little cushion and have caused my feet to ache. I've removed the footbed and replaced it with the ones from my older version of the Siren, though they are worn. So if you buy this shoes, you will want to also buy a comfortable insert to replace the original.

Good Shoe
I ordered 9 1/2 - 1/2 size larger and found the length good but I have a bunion and found them just a little narrow and flat on that side of shoe. I see Amazon.com has C/D widths so I may try a pair at a later date if still available.
