how hard is it to clean?

Thos product is not simple to clean. If you dont clean it right after you juice it makes it much harder and there are many pieces to clean. I feel that the strainer never gets clean enough.

Do you need to peel off the skin of fruits and veg such as beets, sweet potatoes, apples before putting them thru the juicer?

Not on most things. Lemons, limes, oranges, and mangoes need to be skinned. Beets, sweet potatoes, and apples can be juiced with the skin. Ginger is easily juiced. Garlic is GREAT in a juicer. You don't even need to peel it, just toss the cloves right in!

Is this Machine Loud?

It's about as loud as a coffee bean grinder. When you juice hard fruits like apples, then it's a bit louder but it's so fast it doesn't bother me!

Is the basket on this model juicer the same as Hamilton Beach 67601A Big Mouth? I read that the basket on the 67610A was replaced after four months.

Hi James, I have no idea. We only purchased the 67608 model. You can call Hamilton Beach at 1-800-851-8900 and check with them. We are very pleased with the juicer that we purchased. Have been using it almost every day since we received it! As stated in some reviews, always use a plastic grocery bag inside the juicer container, as this will collect all the pulp and debris and makes clean up so easy, just pull out bag and throw in trash can.
