My furbaby likes it…Good product with high amount of protein

My cats loved this food. I have a diabetic cat and this food is very low in carbs, which enables him to keep eat a bit of kibble. I am frustrated that it hasn't been available since April. It is a great hit amongst my cats!

I'd been feeding this to our cats and kitten the past year and now after the most recent bag one has developed explosive diarrhea off and on. I think the serving sizes they suggest are too much for the amount of protein in this. I talked to our vet and she said to feed them a little less than the serving size. This helped a lot. What is going on with the price? Everything few months they increase the price a couple dollars. If this keeps up I'm going back to the Nulo chicken and cod. There's no reason to keep raising the price. Update 7/18/2024 We switched to Nulo. Price has gotten out of control and they seem to have a major problem with meeting their specs. We've received bags that had what appeared to be burnt pieces, bags with giant clumps of food that are hard as a brick, tons of crumbs and dust. My husband threw out our last bag because it was a bunch of huge clumps of kibble and wasn't even edible. I'm not sure what their process is for testing these or confirming spec on the line but whatever it is isn't working. We finally switched all the cats to different food because we could get twice as much for the same price from competing brands and consistent food that met spec and retained quality. After the recipe change they became less interested in eating this food anyway.

I recently returned from studying abroad, which means my cat was staying with my sister who has another cat of her own for like 4-5 years. My sister doesn't care that much about their diet aside from the price tag so my fur baby gained quite a bit of weight. I did some research on how to combat this and a high protein diet including plenty of omega fatty acids is supposed to be ideal... this brand definitely has that down. I noticed some superficial changes after about a few weeks, his fur was softer and much more shiny. I don't know if he's losing weight, but he definitely has more energy now too. I've finished one of the bigger bags of this and now he's much more active, way more willing to play and runs around a lot more. Hopefully he'll get back to a healthier weight eventually but I'm sure that will take longer than a couple of months of a changed diet. He also is a pretty picky eater, and took to it right away so if you're worried your cat might not like it, get the smaller sized bag to try it out and see... that's what I did. I really like that they have the different sizes because cats are very particular creatures so it's always best to try it out before committing.

We have a 3 year old barn cat and we started noticing her sleeping more, gaining weight and overall more lethargic. We were feeding her Taste of the Wild but they changed the formula and the kibble shape so we decided to try a new food to see if it would perk our kitty up a bit. We researched a lot of foods and felt comfortable with Elsey's so we gave it a try. Wow! What a difference it has made! At first we gave our kitty a few pieces as treats and she devoured them. We slowly added it in to her old food and she started pawing in to her bowl, pulling out the Elsey pieces to eat and leaving the other food on the floor. Because of the protien and ingredients, out kitty is eating about 2/3 of what she ate before. She is not over eating, she is healthy and she has a lot of energy back! We are so happy we made the switch to Dr. Elsey and our kitty is happy too. 10/10 would recommend to any cat lover.
