Kirkland Signature Minoxidil Foam for Men, 12.66 Ounce (6 Count)

The Best thing. My hair was falling out rapidly due to my discontinuing my generic finisteride . And then I was reading about hair loss, came across this generic minoxidil on Amazon. Bought this on 11/23/2013 (last year) It was amazing, my hair started getting thicker, and yes the receding front hairline was getting less noticeable, growing back. Today my hair looks like it did when I was 40 yrs old, much thicker, definitely a miracle in progress. (In LESS than 3 months time!!!) It is like a hair mousse (the minoxidil foam) You shake the can, spray in to fill in plastic cover 1/2 full of foam, then run it through your hair in thinning areas, but I used it all over scalp, then only use a small soft comb to comb it all back then side to side, then back to front, finally styling hair as I like it. I would be happy to post a pic but then you would know who I am (just kidding) Seriously, this item is the Best Thing I have Ordered from Amazon in over a yr and a half. I really think you should try it if you are starting to go bald. One impt. note: I did seem to notice the bags/dark circles under my eyes but then I am in my early sixties so a full head of hair is a blessing to me. I am not sure if the dark circles were there before, my pharmacist said he has never heard of this side effect but who knows. Give it a shot!!!! By the way this is sold in super Walmart stores (a different generic brand, but considerably less expensive,) I have not tried Walmart's equivalent of this item.

The stuff works. Wish I would have started using it earlier. I wasn't convinced until I read the studies, like the actual clinical trials and metanalysis, about it and realized this stuff must be legit. I'm a physician (surgeon). Started losing my hair around age 20, first become noticeable to others maybe around 23...really a slow process, mostly on my crown but a little with the hairline...but really I was okay with my hair until like 27 or 28 and I realized I was still single and probs need to make sure I age well cause I have no immediate relationship plans...even at 28 though, if you met me and I wasn't sweaty or right out of the shower or it wasn't really windy, you probably wouldn't notice that my hair was thinning (unless you are balding or really paying attention to people's hair) So yeah I'm 28 and I started using this stuff about 20 weeks ago, I use the foam in the morning and the drops at night. Even after just ~5 months my hair is noticeably thicker...it is crazy..my hair looks like it did when I was 23 or 24...the crown is totally full and my hairline isn't a straight line like it was when I was younger, it is more of a U shape but the line is thick...before it was a thin line and you could see my scalp if I slicked my hair back...now the hairline is solid and it doesn't even look like a receding hairline. I don't think anyone would think I was balding if they saw me on the streets no matter the conditions. Even after the shower my hair looks great. Highly recommend. PS - I had no "shedding phase"

I've been using this product for about four months now. My wife tells me there's more hair on the back of my head (I can't really comment on that, obviously), and I've noticed that my receding hairline looks thicker. I've decided to give this product a full year, then judge for myself at that time whether the gain is worth the cost as well as the ritualistic routine required to use it. It's because of the routine that I don't feel I can give it five stars--but I understand the need for the schedule: It's no different than any other medication in regard to dose/response. Minoxidil is the active ingredient of this foam, and just like the active ingredients of, say, thyroid pills, needs to be taken in regular intervals at a regular dosage in order to work. It needs to be applied to a clean, dry scalp twice a day. Every day. So if you're the type who does not take daily showers, forget it. In my case, I needed to move my bathing schedule up a notch to twice a day; a full-bore shower in the morning, and a light washoff with hair washing in the evening. Every day. This is not a product that works if you apply it once... go on a three-day camping trip... and apply it when you come back. You're committed to it. I understand that once the new hair is established, missing a dose or two won't hurt. Since I'm not there yet, I have to reserve any comment in that regard. A four-day Yellowstone vacation is likely out of the question unless we stay in one of the lodges until that point. I also understand that all regained hair is lost again if the product is stopped (the new hair supposedly falls out within a few months), so it looks like I'm a two-shower-a-day type of guy for life. So in conclusion, I do feel it works. And why not, since it's established medical science that this medication causes hair growth (it's actually a side effect; Google "Minoxidil" and read about its original intended usage) in certain groups of people. But it involves commitment, and you'll likely find yourself restructuring parts of your life to continue using it. If your hair loss only kinda-sorta bothers you, perhaps you won't find that it's worth it. In such a case, there is a prescription medication you can talk to your doctor about which may work better for you--and who knows? Your insurance might cover it. For me, it's the foam. Twice a day. For life.

I have tried five different variations of Rogaine foam from different manufacturers. IMO, the Kirkland is the best. It appears to go on and feel identical to Rogaine, for a fraction of the price. I have been using Rogaine since it came out, and it works. It does not leave my hair oily or make my scalp itch.

This stuff works as well as Rogaine Foam at half the price. Use this with Lipogaine Shampoo and the results are spectacular. Stopped Propecia one year ago due to side effects. Started the minoxidil and ketoconazole treatment immediately and my hair is virtually unchanged. I'd recommend this stuff to anyone. If you are as afraid of hair loss as I was, remember if these treatments don't work for you, look into getting a hair piece. They have come a long way and look as natural as anyone else's hair. But, if you currently have hair and want to keep it as long as possible use this and the shampoo i mentioned. It works. I can't say for sure how well it will work if you have little to no hair but for me it has. Good luck!

I have been using this stuff for years. I cannot say that any hair has grown back, but I feel VERY confident in saying that my receding hairline has slowed to the point of a standstill. My brother went bald in his early twenties, I am hanging on without the need of any comb-over or the like at 35. I know of some people who don't like this foam because it does dry the hair out. It is a valid point. But I work out frequently, I must sweat just a little on my head because my hair will look oily and unclean. This foam, combined with my slightly oily hair create an perfect even ground of cleanliness. At least in look. I apply the foam (just a little) directly to my scalp in four locations on the front of my head and the bald spot area. I do this at night just before bed. I have done it this way, literally for years. Genetically, I should be bald or at the very least more so. But I believe this product has saved me that annoyance. Back in 2011, my then 24-year-old husband's hair began to bald rapidly (from the forehead all the way to the back of his head). In what seemed like an overnight change, his thick brown hair became very thin and his scalp began shining through in photos. He was about to just trim it short to make way for imminent baldness, but figured it wouldn't hurt to try Minoxidil foam for a few weeks as a last ditch effort. We know it's not supposed to help his type of balding (more full-head rather than back of head), but he gave it a shot. Within weeks of use, his hair thinning halted. After a few months it had actually filled back in by about 75%. I'm pleased to say that as of 2015 he still has a full head of hair and has decided to grow it out long enough for a man bun (that's another story). On top of his head the hair looks full and the scalp is not at all visible. Other than slightly different texture I can't even see the area that had thinned away so drastically. When he tells friends he uses Rogaine they think he's joking. I'd love him with or without hair, but it's really nice that he's been able to get a few more years (and maybe more in the future) of full hair. I'll report back in the future, but as of now I'd say this has been 100% successful. The only downside is that he has to use it twice daily and that it has a faint fragrance (not bad, just not "his" smell). Putting some product on afterwards usually covers it up and he feels it's a small price to pay to still have hair.

*This is a review of the Kirkland product as it relates to its styling effect on the hair you may have left in the male pattern baldness area. It has nothing to do with minoxidil's effectiveness as a hair loss solution. A little more than six months ago I purchased this Kirkland foam hoping to save a few bucks on the Rogaine. I looked through reviews to see if it was comparable to Rogaine foam in terms of the styling effect it would have on my hair, of which I have an enviable amount as far as hair loss sufferers go. Specifically, my hair is very light and fine, and is thinning diffusely, more or less equally over the top of my scalp. I've always been remiss in styling my hair, and the only bonus I received from noticing and dealing with the onset of hair loss was that using the Rogaine product actually resulted in my taking the time to style my hair. Everyone's hair is different, so I certainly can't speak for all, but, for me, the Rogaine has a very mild effect, giving my hair just a little weight and body, allowing me to shape it into a perfectly respectable swoop to the side, with a nice little part. The Kirkland, on the other hand, is way too heavy. It interacts very poorly with my hair, leaving it looking frizzy, slightly greasy, and stiff. Also, for "unscented" foam, it sure is smelly. It smells faintly like some kind of insulant for windows or tiles. I actually used this stuff out of stubbornness until the whole six month supply was used up because I was angry at myself for spending too much money on Amazon, and because unfortunately I have no one to impress, and because I'd allowed myself to be duped by Kirkland AGAIN. Suffice it to say, DO NOT under any circumstances purchase the Kirkland "topical solution." It makes your hair look like a grease bomb, and increases your chances of being accidentally lit on fire to unacceptable levels. It is cheap, but isn't the whole point of trying to save your hair so that you look good??? The bottom line is that this product is vastly inferior to the Rogaine foam, but is not priced accordingly. For this six month supply, I saved $14 over what I would have paid for the Rogaine product... absolutely not worth the quality downgrade. I was prompted to write this review after going back to Rogaine and once again being happy with the styling results. No more stiffness and frizziness. It's also worth noting that I'm currently using Rogaine's original topical solution, which I may prefer over the foam (it's easier to be certain you're using the correct amount, and you can be certain it's getting to your scalp if you have a lot of hair like I do). The Rogaine topical solution is so much better than Kirkland's it really makes you wonder what the hell it is Kirkland puts in that stuff. As far as its effectiveness... who knows? I'm using finasteride, minoxidil and a ketoconazole shampoo. I've been using these products for slightly over a year, and have not seen any miracles. I think for most people the only reasonable expectation with current solutions is to slow down the natural process of hair loss. Good luck with that!
