... adapter that I bought was an Insignia brand from Best Buy, which didn't work very well at all
The first adapter that I bought was an Insignia brand from Best Buy, which didn't work very well at all. One side one only play static, while the other only played in my front-left speaker. I ended up returning that one and went for finding one online. I know there are some with better reviews, but since my car has a tape deck that seems backwards from all the others, I decided to take a chance and go for the Belkin one, since they designed it the smart way and put the cord right on the corner, which makes it perfect for either type of tape deck your car may have. (Mine has the more rare version, where the tape goes in horizontal (=) instead of vertical (| |). So far, it works wonderfully! I was even surprised that mine came with a pretty design on it, that as like a light-blue swirly floral design. I never get to see it since I just keep it in my tape deck (to minimize any damage it may take, since a lot of people say that it is prone to breaking), but it was still a cute touch. In all, I love the product so far. It works in perfect stereo, and although it does make a slight noise as the tape deck's gears turn, it's not loud enough for you to hear if you're paying attention to the road and listening to your music. I will definitely update the review if it breaks, as many people have complained that it has a short lifespan. Physically, it seems sturdy enough, though.

Grainy sound quality
Works well and easily, but I have a small problem and a large one. The first is that the cord prevents the cassette player from closing, I guess this is unavoidable, but it annoys me nonetheless. The second is that there is always a static buzz whenever feed is coming from the tape. Louder songs easily drown out the white noise, but some quieter songs I have cannot cover the buzz. Aside from that, it connects well and easily. Fast response from ipod.

Great Solution for a Great Price
I wasn't sure this was the best option for using an older iPod in my 2009 Lexus 350 but did not have many other options. I do not have the option of using the bluetooth because the iPod is so old and the car does not have the plug-in for the tiny jack. So I had to either use this tape adapter, buy a new iPod or a new radio for the car. The tape adapter is the least expensive option and it has worked out alright. The sound quality is not the greatest but it is acceptable. The car's sound system is superior so that helps a lot. It works flawlessly, is easy to set up, requires no setting of stations or other parts or tools and works all the time. For the price, this was a great option. For better sound, I would really want to upgrade the iPod and use bluetooth. That is what I would really recommend long term but there is nothing bad about this option since I am listening to music on an older iPod in a car moving in traffic most of the time.

This iphone adapter made me a happier driver
I'm a little sick of my CD changer CDs but too harassed to change them out. And sometimes I just don't want the radio, whether classical, pop or oldies. So, I'm picky. I tried one adapter to access my playlists on my iphone and the the volume was non-existent. Sent it back, thank-you Amazon. However, this one is a dream. Put it in and it picked up my songs blasting them out...oops, change the volume on the phone. Anyway, this Belkin works as advertised and even then some. I'm so happy when I can listen to the Bear Mcreary Prelude to War from Battlestar Gallactica when heading for a work-out!. Buy it. Both!

Stopped working after 3 days of use.
I am very disappointed in this product. Out of the box it made a heartbeat sound that was very annoying but after a day or two that sound disappeared and the device worked fairly well. Then, after 3 days of use, it stopped working and there is no sign of what caused the breakage. Unfortunately, the value of the product doesn't make it worth my time to send for a refund. Next time I will buy a $5 version of this sort of thing.

Still working after over a year, decent product for a fair price.

Finally found one that works!
My car is a 2002 and was built before USB ports were standard. I wanted an inexpensive way to listen to music from my iPod, so thought I'd try a tape adapter. I tried two that were made by Monster and one by someone I can't remember, and all three sounded absolutely horrible. The Monster adapters seemed to only play through one channel and no stereo, so you only heard half the music. Then I noticed that my friend had a Belkin and I tried it in my car and ... voila! Not only does it play all channels and in stereo, but the sound is great. Completely satisfied!

Great when it works, but it broke after 6 months
UPDATE: I hate to update this review, but after less than 6 months of casual use (I live in a city and drive my car about once a week), this player stopped working out of one of my speakers. When it worked, it was great quality, but I can't believe that the Belkin quality has decreased so much. The one I had in 2009 lasted me over 5 years of hardcore use. This one just sits in my idle car most of the time, and it just suddenly stopped working one day. What a bummer. Will no longer be recommending Belkin to anyone. -- I had a white Belkin tape adapter from about 2009-2013, when the headphone jack wire began to fall apart. It was a great adapter with high quality sound, and I was really sad when I lost it. To replace it, I went to Best Buy and bought a $20 replacement, which had low quality sound, a lot of fuzz, and left me feeling super unsatisfied. I ended up returning that and buying this, and I could not be happier. It has amazing sound quality, allows you to listen to music super loudly if you want, and it hardly makes any clicking noises as it runs in your cassette player. I know reading reviews can be overwhelming, but let me make it simple for you: Don't waste your time on any other brands. This adapter is the best one.
