Hassle-free installation & error-free functioning
Huge improvement on the OEM filament bulbs that were installed. There's little more that I can add to this other than it being a nice touch to be supplied with gloves to prevent the transfer of skin oils. Said gloves proved not to be usable as they were too small for me and swamped my wife's hands, but (again) it was nice to acknowledge their inclusion within the packaging.

Bright and will also directly replace H16, but no cooling fan and 18 watts each, not 100
The first thing to note - a key thing in fact - is that the LED arrays are in the same position relative to the base as a 55W watt halogen filament would be, so the beam pattern through a reflector should be largely the same, any difference being due to the vertical "bar" of the mounting assembly being present and blocking the light, where on an incandescent lamp you'd just have clear glass. The way they are keyed means they won't just replace H8, H9 or H11 lamps, they can be used to replace 19 watt H16 foglamp bulbs as well. Peak power consumption seems to be at about the 13.2 volt mark, dropping slightly either side of this. At 12 volts they draw 1.5 amps each, 18 watts. At 13.2 volts they draw 1.4 amps each, 18.5 watts. At 13.8 volts they draw 1.32 amps each, 18.2 watts. At 14.5 volts they draw 1.26 amps each, 18.3 watts. This is after a five minute warm-up; when first switched on they draw 19.8 watts apiece. In any case it falls far short of the 100W claimed in the advert. It can't be claimed as "100W equivalent" either, as they're also claiming to be 600% brighter. You can't have it both ways, and they drop a review star for this claim alone. The lamps aren't equipped with any sort of cooling fan, instead relying on the metal body of the lamp to dissipate heat. This body is almost identical in size to that of a conventional bulb, useful in cases where there is limited room for larger lamps or those with connections in a slightly different position. This power consumption of approx. 18 watts per lamp means that they should be a drop-in replacement for any bulb of this size, including 19 watt H16 foglight bulbs. Please note that for cars registered on or after 1st April 1986, headlights designed for halogen but retrofitted with HID or LED are considered an MOT failure (4.1.4(c) Light source and lamp not compatible). This doesn't apply to front foglights though, not yet at least.
