Description
- Wild Blueberries (vacinnium angustifolium - as recommended by Anthony William, The Medical Medium) only grow in the Canadian wilderness and in Maine, USA. Wild Blueberries are much smaller than their cultivated cousins. Which means you get more of the deep blue skin per kilo, and in in turn more of the antioxidents, anthocyanins and polyphenols that are believed to be so important for a healthy diet.
- Our Wild Blueberry powder is made from Nova Scotia-grown, Canada Grade A, lowbush Wild Blueberries, with no additives whatsoever. We use the whole fruit, which is gently dried, then milled to a fine texture so that our Wild Blueberry powder is easy to blend into your recipes. Each 150g pouch is made from 1.5kg of whole berries.
- Our Wild Blueberries aren’t farmed in the conventional sense; the bushes will only grow where nature takes them and they’re only harvested once every two years, sometimes still picked the traditional way, by hand
- Because they grow wild, a crop of Wild Blueberries is likely to include a significant mix of genetic varieties or cultivars, often denoted by different coloured berries growing side by side. This is quite unlike crop monoculture (such as cultivated blueberry farming) which is typically based on a single genetic strain rather than a mixture. Having a mixture of cultivars is more likely to deliver optimum nutritional benefits.
